“I converted to Islam one year before marrying my Malay wife in 1988…”
“We were working at the factory in Muar, Johor, before moving to KL a long time ago.
“I have three kids now who look more Chinese than Malay – and
wherever they go, shops or schools, people will think they are Chinese – and they can speak Chinese.
“They all eat Halal food, and they all can speak both Mandarin and Malay and my youngest child, he can speak Tamil! At the mamak (Muslim Indian restaurant) at Brickfields, the Indian guy was confused, how can a Chinese speak Tamil?
“At first my wife didn’t want all the kids to go to a Chinese school. She said, its ok la, how about two kids go to a Chinese school and the other one to a National school. And I said no cannot, I want them all to go to a Chinese school. And they all did.
“Now while I’m reading an English newspaper, my kids are reading Chinese newspapers like Sin Chew and Oriental Daily.”

“We are walking the length of various countries to raise awareness about positive environmental and humanitarian projects. We completed a 1110km walk through Peninsular Malaysia from Johor to Perlis.”
“Why did you decide to walk?”
“I have been walking all my life, Nomadic Lion is my dream. Walking also allows us to travel slowly and interact with all different types of people and see all different types of environment. We travel slowly giving us time to take in each culture, environment and tradition.”

Questions like “will I lose my virginity if I use my tampon?, will I be a whore if I am on contraception? What does it mean when you say I want to keep my baby? What about getting married, what does it mean, and child marriages if your body is not ready?”
“I don’t tell a kid that this is halal or haram, it is not my business – my business is science and biology, I’m an educator and am objective. If a child comes to me with a problem and says that he/she masturbates too much, is that a problem? I’ll tell them no. But then they say that God says if you do it too much you go blind. Scientifically there’s no correlation between masturbation and being blind”.
