Continue readingUnited Against Dengue
We’ve seen it in our neighbourhoods, loved ones suddenly falling ill, fever creeping in and sometimes heartbreakingly, not making it through.
Dengue isn’t just a seasonal scare anymore. It’s a growing threat, and this year alone, over 14,000 dengue cases have been reported in Malaysia. 16 people have already lost their lives and that number is rising. But there’s a new movement stepping in to change the story.
Launched on ASEAN Dengue Day, the United Against Dengue (UAD) initiative is a collaboration between the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and global biopharmaceutical company Takeda. Together, they’re rallying communities across Asia to educate, advocate, and support efforts to end preventable dengue deaths by 2030.
From community health education and early action training, to national policy engagement and direct support for those affected this is about real action on the ground. They’re also partnering with creators like The Woke Salaryman, who launched a comic that makes dengue awareness easy to understand and hard to ignore.
The truth is: dengue is preventable. But we need to act, together. UAD is a call to every neighbourhood, every voice, every family to unite and protect what matters.
